Gosh, I have had such a busy week I didn’t even post my fun projects! Here is a glimpse of my past week…

Butterick 4105 – I’m crazy about this bag. I’m planning to make another one for Lily.

I’m still CRAZY about the Sienna Dress Pattern from Lil Blue Boo! I seriously can’t get enough of this pattern! With this version I used freezer paper stencils to add little skulls to the sleeves. Seriously easy and seriously cute.

Finally I made another purse from the Phoebe bag pattern. I don’t actually love this one. It didn’t turn out quite how I had hoped. This is a seriously easy pattern but from the moment I started this I wasn’t having fun with it. So I guess next time I’ll try a new purse pattern. Perhaps this Buttercup bag pattern??? It’s adorable!

I’m a little intimidated by my next project, but I’m going to get everything cut out tonight and hopefully start tomorrow. I’m attempting the 2+2 skirt and shirt pattern from Oliver + S. I’m hoping to have enough time to work on it this week so Lily can wear it for her Thanksgiving outfit. For some reason I’m super intimidated by this pattern…so wish me luck!

My little bug had a great Halloween!!! Her ladybug costume turned out adorable and she didn’t even mind wearing it! It was very easy for my first attempt at a Halloween costume.

Lily’s “shell” was made from felt and was basically just a pillow with a few strips of velcro sewed on the back. I made a simple fleece vest with velcro on the back so the shell could be removed for the car, etc. Here is where I found the idea for the shell. I then made a simple little skirt out of a piece of elastic and some tulle. The antenna were Christmas foam balls painted black and attached (by daddy) with hot glue to pipe cleaners and a little foam visor.

This costume was simple and cute but still comfortable for Lily to wear.

I’m having way too much fun with Lil Blue Boo patterns! I made another little hoodie for Lily this weekend out of pink camo knit and some leftover green knit I had from another project. The hoodies are just too cute!

Since I have had such great success with the Lil Blue Boo patterns I decided to give the Sienna Dress pattern a try. This pattern shows you how to turn old t-shirts into adorable little dresses! The directions are so easy to follow and the dresses turn out just great. There are so many great time saving tips too – like using existing hems and re-using the ribbed knit collar from existing t-shirts. I can tell you Lily’s wardrobe is about to become overrun with these.

I guess I’m on a hoodie kick at the moment! This weekend I made a hoodie for Lily from Lil Blue Boo’s new hoodie pattern. This is a great pattern!!!! It is super easy to follow and has contains some great tips for sewing knits. I wish I had read her hints about using spray starch before I sewed this.

I used a few of my old T-shirts and quickly made this adorable little hoodie for Lily. I already have plans to make another one this week and add a skirt on the bottom! This is such a cute way to make unique clothes for little ones while recycling old t-shirts.

Lily isn’t interested in having her picture taken so unfortunately you can’t see just how cute this hoodie really is. But it is adorable and will definitely become an often used pattern in our house!

I finally finished the hoodie I have been working on in my sewing class and it fits Chris perfectly! I used McCall #M5991 and did the jacket in view F. This turned out better than I could have expected. It was super basic with very easy to follow instructions.

This was a fun pattern because it has a hood, separating zipper, pockets, and small pockets on the sleeves. Real pockets and a hood were new to me but the instructions were so good I didn’t have any problems. This is definitely a pattern any beginner could complete with good results. The jacket sews together in so few pieces that it works up really fast and fleece is so forgiving that even if my stitches weren’t completely straight it isn’t noticeable. I will definitely be using this pattern again to make a hoodie for myself!

Horray, I finally completed something wearable for an adult!!!!!! And doesn’t Chris look excited?? ha ha ha!!!

This dress is one of the reasons I wanted to learn to sew. I found a dress made from this fabric on Etsy a few months ago and HAD to have it for Lily. It was $26.50, which isn’t expensive, but I kept thinking if only I could learn to sew I could make the dress myself for less. Well, ta-dah, I did!!!!

I paid $7.99 + $2.50 shipping  for the fabric (and have quite a bit leftover to use for fun appliques or maybe even a rockin ruffle on another dress), McCall #5916 on sale for 99 cents, used a 40% off coupon and bought the zipper for 90 cents at Hobby Lobby, and found some thread on sale at Hancocks for $1.00.  Total cost = $13.38.

I couldn’t be happier!!

Lily turns one on Friday. I still can’t belive my little bug is already one year old. This weekend I sewed up a few outfits in celebration of her birthday!  She doesn’t like modeling her clothes so daddy helped hold her still! Everything I made this weekend is  from Simplicity #3582. I bought this pattern on sale at Hobby Lobby for 99 cents and it has so many variations and has really simple, descriptive instructions.

I got the idea for this outfit from a post on Lil Blue Boo’s site. These pants are what caused me so much ruffle drama earlier in the week. Once I sat down with a clear, well rested head the ruffles were a piece of cake! The owl appliques are cut from some Robert Kaufman “On a Whim” fabric and the shirt is a plain white t-shirt from Dharma Trading Company. I did the same applique on the pants and shirt, but added a circle of corduroy on the shirt so it would be larger. It turned out great! This is definitely my favorite outfit I have made Lily.

This outfit is my husband’s favorite. This is an adorable little vest and pants I made from some seersucker and lined the vest with laundered cotton. The vest pattern was super easy and looks just adorable. I think Lily looks like a little beatnik in it 🙂

These pants fit Lily perfectly right now but I cut out ruffles to add some length as she grows a little taller. The shirt applique is traced from a heart cookie cutter.

Finally, I made this long sleeved, jersey shirt. I LOVE this shirt. I’m a big fan of layering and this honestly looks like something I would wear myself! I have a bunch of old punk rock t-shirts from when I was a kid and I plan to use this pattern to re-use the old shirts. I think I would just melt if I saw my little bug in an Operation Ivy t-shirt!

I am hoping to finish a little pair of overalls before her birthday, but with company arriving this week I will be pretty busy.  BUT…I do have another project I’ve been working on in my sewing class which I am hoping to finish this week! It is the first time I’ve made anything wearable for an adult (other than my apron) so I’m pretty excited to show it off!
